Photographers: Chris Jordan

Found on the Internet: Photographer Chris Jordan, out of Seattle, shows us humanity by proxy. Rather than displaying people directly, his photographs depict signs of people through their discarded possessions, whether they be anonymous teeming materalists or victims of New Orleans.

His most recent series, “Running the Numbers,” pushes the technical envelope by using individual photographs of discarded objects to comprise mass photomosaics, which he prints at suitably mammoth dimensions. Guns stand in for homicide victims; jump suits for the incarcerated; consumption is presented en masse with plastic bags and reams of paper, showing the literal quantities of goods that America consumes per hour, or per minute. Worth a look-see.
